The First Step toward Anxiety Treatment and Stress Reduction

What to do first?

The first step to get the healing process started would be to call me.  I am reachable by phone at (415)458-2725 and my offices are located in downtown Palo Alto and in downtown San Francisco.   To schedule an initial appointment, I need to speak to you first.  I realize this can be inconvenient, but I believe it is critical to getting the best results.  You will get a sense of who I am, what I am like and you are free to ask any questions you may have.  It also gives me a chance to ask about your situation so I can assess your needs.  If I don’t feel that I can help you, I will tell you up front.  I encourage everyone to speak to several counselors before making a final decision.

Prior to your first office visit, please download the forms below. It is very important that you fill out and bring these forms with you. There is a fair amount of information needed and it may take a while to fill out all this information. Bringing it with you will save us significant amount of time during our session to focus on other important issues.

How much do you charge for your services and how long do sessions last?

My fees are in line with community standards and include normal communications by either phone or email, patient related research and brief consultations with your other providers as needed.  Payment is due at the time services are provided.

A session is usually 45 to 50 minutes.  Sometimes, for exposure therapy, longer sessions are scheduled.

Do you take insurance?

For various reasons, I no longer accept HMO referrals at my private practice.  I will provide a coded statement that can be submitted with a claim form to your insurance company for reimbursement.  You may also be able to submit these statements to your flexible spending account (FSA) for reimbursement.  You should check with your insurance provider as each provider and each plan has different guidelines for psychological services and reimbursement.
